Making a Great Cup of Coffee On the Go

These are some tips for Coffee On the Go

Introduction

In today's on-the-go lifestyle there is almost no time to savor the finer things in life. This includes Coffee, many people opt for instant Coffee merely because they have time to grind their own beans or prepare a rich cup of Brewed Coffee,

Now I'm not saying that instant is no right. In fact for those who are not well versed in brewing Coffee, instant might be superior to the Coffee one might end up brewing.

But for the busy on-the-go person who must have his brewed Coffee here are some tips for Coffee On-the-Go.

Our Fate Is in Our Beans

A great cup of Coffee must start with the beans. Just as good seed bears good trees and good fruit, good beans are the foundation of a good cup of on-the-go Coffee.

However, good beans is often a matter of discretion. The beans one drinker adores another might spurn. So let's face it we may disagree as to which beans we consider best. But fresh beans are must. Beans must be roasted and ground as close as possible to the time we want to consume them.

But since an on-the-go person rarely has time to grind his own beans, the best way to do this is to go to a local coffee shop and have the beans roasted and ground there. Coffee once the ground starts to dry pretty fast, so the best thing to do is to use them immediately.

If they cannot be immediately put to their chosen purpose, they can be stored in an air-tight ziplock bag to preserve their flavor until they are needed.

Still, once roasted and ground it is not long before the Coffee starts to expire. So only store the Coffee if you absolutely must.

Coffee Maker Confusion

Now considering that my advice is to brew the Coffee quickly after it is roasted and ground, the next obvious concern is what machine to brew the coffee with. I offer three choices; Espresso, Traditional Coffee maker, and Cold Brew.

Espresso

  • Cons: a great cup of Coffee on-the-go is complex when using an Espresso machine. The truth it an Espresso machine is complex but makes great Coffee. Keep in mind that an Espresso machine is quite expensive and requires considerable instruction before it is used.
  • Pros of Espresso: The benefit of Espresso is that it can be some of the strongest and most amazing Coffee use can have. Assuming you can actually manage to use the machine.

Traditional Coffee Machine

  • Pros: The traditional Coffee machine is simple to use and makes great Coffee. The price point of the machine is not so bad so it is accessible even to people who have limited means.
  • Cons: Coffee Machines still require a bit of preparation. They need to be filled with water and grounds and then we have to allow the machine to work its magic. Hence if we really want coffee on-the-go we need to go with the third option

Cold Brew: Possible the easiest way to prepare Coffee, cold brew simply requires the user to prepare Coffee as he would tea. It is cheap to produce and comes up with a rather  unique flavor profile. The only drawback is that you need to go out of your way to find the tea bags or infusers you would need, and you need to leave it in the ref overnight.

The Extras to Make Coffee Great

Coffee served black is my choice of Coffee. However, I accept that not everyone shares my taste for Coffee served in this manner. So to the would-be on-the-go Coffee maker might need to pack some of these in his kit to make sure his Coffee is as excellent as he wants it to be:

  •    White Sugar: Refined White Sugar is the most plain and common condiment to a great cup of Coffee. A few sachets of this or maybe a small container can provide all the sweetening needs of a cup of Coffee.
  •    Brown Sugar: Some purists swear by brown sugar. It has a different flavor profile and some say the impurities that make Brown Sugar brown are what makes it so much better than plain old white Sugar.
  •    Splenda or other artificial sweeteners: Some people can't stand the idea of consuming sugar. Hence artificial sweeteners are the alternative. I personally don't recommend these because of all the research saying it has negative effects. But knock yourself out if this is your cup of tea.
  •    Creamer: Creamers are important and mask the strong bitterness of Coffee. Personally I think it is odd that anyone would want to put creamer in their Coffee. The reason being that I want my Coffee to be strong. But for those with more delicate taste creamer is a must.
  •    Milk is a good alternative for those who would like creaminess in their Coffee but are not concerned with its possible fattening effects. I prefer milk if I must have creaminess since it comes with calcium and other benefits.

Hot Coffee is Good Coffee

The final part of great on-the-go Coffee is making sure it stays hot, or at least warm enough to be at its best.

For this purpose a thermal mug or thermos works best. A thermos keeps liquids hot or cold depending on the temperature they were at before they were put in there.

Now some people say you can microwave coffee. I'm not a big fan of this because I believe that great cup of Coffee must not be adulterated by the microwave machine. But still if someone desires hot Coffee using a microwave who am I to judge?

Conclusion

In conclusion, Coffee on-the-go can be an edifying experience. Just make sure that you are prepared to get everything you need beforehand so you can go ahead and enjoy a great cup of Coffee when you want it. So have at it and enjoy you Coffee.
